Our Commitment
Marina Projects Ltd is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
As a specialist marina and waterfront consultancy, we recognise the importance and our responsibility to minimise where possible, our emissions and footprint associated with our business activities. Furthermore, Marina Projects recognise the opportunities and accountability to influence sustainable outcomes through the projects we deliver.
This Carbon Reduction Plan supports the commitments set out within our Sustainability & Environmental Policy and will be reviewed annually.
Our Approach
During 2024 Marina Projects undertook a sustainability audit to establish a baseline understanding of our environmental performance. Areas identified for improvement included emissions measurement, travel management, procurement, energy use, waste reduction and staff engagement. Since then, we have adopted a Sustainability & Environmental Policy approved by the Marina Projects Board of Directors, established a sustainability action tracker and improvement programme, delivered internal sustainability awareness training and toolbox talks, established a baseline audit process to monitor progress and continued to support an element of hybrid working to reduce travel.
Carbon Reduction Measures
Business Travel
- Promote remote online meetings where appropriate
- Reduce unnecessary travel through digital collaboration
- Encourage public transport and car sharing where practical
- Monitor business travel and identify opportunities to reduce emissions
Office Operations
- Reduce energy consumption through efficient use of office equipment and lighting
- Minimise paper use through digital working practices
- Increase recycling ‘at source’ and responsible waste management
People and Culture
- Maintain sustainability awareness sessions
- Develop an internal sustainability charter and staff engagement programme
- Promote environmentally responsible behaviours
Procurement
- Consider sustainability credentials when selecting suppliers and service providers
- Encourage sustainable working practices throughout the supply chain
Project Delivery
- Continue to integrate sustainability considerations into marina planning, design and operational advice
- Promote best practice in sustainable marina development for our clients
Monitoring
Progress against our Carbon Reduction Plan is monitored through the Marina Projects Sustainability Action Tracker and reviewed annually by the Consultancy Management Team. Future carbon reduction targets will be informed by our ongoing sustainability audits.
