AMAALA, northwestern Saudi Arabia

Our earliest foray into the Red Sea came about with the AMAALA Projects and it is really pleasing to see some of these both breaking ground and at last breaking cover (in the media). The vision for AMAALA as an ultra-luxury destination located along Saudi Arabia’s northwestern coastline, took a huge step forward recently with the flooding of the marina basin at Triple Bay and seeing some of our design inputs come to life is hugely exciting. AMAALA seeks to redefine the ultra-luxury experience, within a wider network of projects that create a coastal oasis along the Red Sea and a new charter region on the international yachting stage. Triple Bay’s Marina and Marine Life Institute will play a key part in the projects’ success.

Elsewhere along the Red Sea, we have been involved with numerous projects that seek to realise the potential of this stunning coastline. The scale of the proposed development is quite remarkable. The range of services being provided by Marina Projects across various projects include:

• Pre-concept feasibility
• Input to site appraisal and the assessment of constraints and opportunities
• Comprehensive market studies, including detailed analysis of the superyacht market and outlining the factors required to facilitate the successful growth of the sector in the Red Sea and wider region
• Concept marina masterplans and design evolution through to detailed masterplan studies
• Development of Design Control Regulations, detail design packages and supporting documents for procurement packages

• Subject matter expert and marina design guardianship
• Oversight of marine infrastructure and marina installations
• Operational strategies and operating procedures
• Detailed business case analysis

Our Red Sea experience extends over 8-years, to more than 15 projects and covers a stretch of coast 1,200km long from the Gulf of Aqaba in the north, reaching as far south as Jeddah and beyond. The opportunity to establish strong working relationships with master planner architects, engineers, clients and other specialists have been a highlight of the process and the exciting projects that will come forward will set a new benchmark for marinas world-wide.

But the Red Sea coast is only part of the story with projects also on the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, including the eastern coast of KSA and across the UAE. I hope in time we’re able to share more about our involvement in these exciting groundbreaking projects. Watch this space….
