james watt dock marina
The gateway to the clyde and the west of scotland
Location
James Watt Dock Marina is located on the river Clyde in Greenock on the west coast of Scotland, with easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Berths
The marina offers around 200 fully serviced pontoon berths for craft 7m to 100+m, within a historic dock setting and full deep water access with a range of marina facilities.
History
Established in 1878, with it’s deep water access it poached trade from Glasgow based further up the river. Seizing the opportunity by launching its own industries; sugar refining and ship building.
Development
The Tate & Lyle sugar refinery closed just before the end of the 20th century but the listed buildings and the huge crane remain. Work is continuing on a new marina office and facilities, this should be fully complete late 2024.
The investment in the new building forms part of the ongoing and long term commitment by Marina Projects to the expansion and development of the James Watt Dock Marina business and ambition of raising the profile of Greenock and Inverclyde within the marine leisure sector.

Whitehaven marina
The northwest coast’s most comprehensive marina
Location
Whitehaven Marina is situated on the northwest coast of England, minutes from the beauty of Lake District National Park.
Berths
Offering over 400 fully serviced pontoon marina berths and extensive quay wall berths for larger boats. The sea lock entrance to the harbour provides a flood defence as well security for the marina.
History
Whitehaven is a Georgian town originating in 1633 as a small fishing village, developing into the third largest trading port in the UK, exporting coal world-wide.
Development
In April 2009 Marina Projects, through its subsidiary company, Whitehaven Marina Ltd took over the day-to-day management of Whitehaven Marina, including a new £1.4 million boatyard facility. Marina Projects dealt with the transfer of all marina staff into the new operating company.
The result of Marina Project’s continued involvement has seen a steady increase in Whitehaven’s marina occupancy and trading performance, meeting and exceeding the budgeted targets.
