Yarmouth Harbour - More Consent Success
11 January 2011Following the recent success in securing the marine consents for the Cowes Outer Harbour Project, Marina Projects Ltd has been successful in securing the necessary consents for the development of the berthing facilities in Yarmouth Harbour.
The project comprises the reconfiguration of Yarmouth Harbour on the Isle of Wight, an iconic leisure destination in the Solent. Responding to the demands of the modern boater an increased number of more convenient walk ashore berths will be provided for residents and visitors with the ratio of these berths and overall number of berths remaining unchanged. The existing quayside fuel berth with be relocated to a pontoon nearer the harbour entrance to provide additional mooring points and make better use of the water space.
The scope of work undertaken by us included detailed stakeholder and public consultation on behalf of our client Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners and pre-application consultation with a range of regulatory bodies and their advisors. The public consultation led to extensive feedback and the opportunity for the Commissioners to modify the proposals to respond to the consultation responses.
We also established a detailed strategy for securing the various consents and addressing the requirements of the related Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations and the Habitats Regulations. The consents secured for the works have included:
- Planning Permission
- Construction Licence under the Food & Environment Protection Act (FEPA)
- Coast Protection Act Consent (CPA)
- Flood Defence Consent
In addition to the design and consent related work we have been responsible for dealing with utility upgrades, procurement, business planning and preparing detailed funding documents and negotiations with funders.
