Marina Projects Ltd has commenced the process of extending the scope of Environmental Services offered by its specialist consultancy through the appointment of a new Environmental Manager, Danielle Smith.

Danielle Smith

Danielle has extensive working knowledge of the coastal and marine environment and is practised in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA’s), coastal defence strategies and Shoreline Management Plans (SMP’s). Danielle has worked on a range of coastal and marine development projects both internationally and locally for private, governmental and non-governmental organisations. Projects have ranged from the Regional Seas Programme (UNEP) spanning the Globe, to large EIA’s for UK port developments through to smaller local coastal defence schemes.

Danielle has both managed and undertaken inter-tidal and benthic monitoring surveys on the UK coastline as well as coral reef desk studies and surveys in tropical marine environments such as Iran and the Philippines. Danielle also has experience working on projects in the offshore marine environment having worked on major North Sea oil and gas developments and offshore wind farms. As a trained marine mammal observer, Danielle has advised on the mitigation and monitoring protocols during projects impacting on marine mammals. She is qualified as an HSE Schedule 4: Scientific SCUBA diver and also sits on the committee of the South East branch of CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management).

Marina Projects Project Director, Mike Ward, commented:

“We are delighted to have Danielle on board, I have no doubt that her depth of experience and detailed knowledge of this ever more important sector will prove to be a catalyst to the development of the range of services we are able to offer. This development of the business comes off the back of some very real success in securing the necessary consents for the Cowes Outer Harbour Project and our ongoing work with Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners ”
