Porto Montenegro Jetty 2 opens

10 September 2008

In front of approximately one hundred invitees from the political, economic and cultural life of Montenegro and the Boca Bay, Peter Munk, the Canadian magnate and a majority owner of Adriatic Marinas and the Mayor of Tivat, Dragan Kankaras, opened the first of four jetties on the new Porto Montenegro marina that is currently being developed on the site of the former Arsenal naval shipyard.

Located directly on the main promenade, Jetty 2 will primarily serve as an extension of the public quayside. The occasion is the work of a dedicated project team led by Marina Projects Limited. The mandate was to modernise and adapt an exisiting concrete structure to deliver a level of service and a landscaped environment that would make it the envy of any marina in the world.

The landscaping is the vision of Martin Lane Fox and features mature Spanish palm trees set within the body of the jetty.

The works were completed over a two month period and resulted in jetty 2 taking on the appearance of an elite yachting facility in the French Cote d’Azur. Jetty 2 will serve as a model upon which the remaining jetties will be renovated before the summer of 2009.

The jetty surfaces, bench seats and landscape features are finished in Ardia Grigio stone, which is sourced and refined locally, and water fountains made from authentic stone olive grinders from Venezuela are spaced along the jetty between the palm trees.
