Marina Projects Appointed for Sailing Academy Project

Marina Projects have been appointed by Gwynedd Council to undertake a study that will culminate in the development of concept proposals for a Welsh National Sailing Academy and Events Centre in Pwllheli Harbour, North Wales. Pwllheli Harbour provides access to some of the UK’s best sailing grounds and already hosts numerous national and international dingy sailing events which are hosted by Pwllehli Sailing Club. It is recognised that the current level of facilities do not exploit the full potential of the area. The main study elements require extensive research of the events and local marine leisure market, the development of a Vision Statement and Objectives, preparation of concept proposals, developing a business case and undertaking a viability assessment. A technical committee has been established by Gwynedd Council that includes Pwllheli Sailing Club, Welsh Assembly Government, Welsh Yachting Association and other local marine interests. The study requires extensive consultation both with the technical committee members and other local interest groups.
