Dan McKiernan CMM, Senior Project Manager

Dan has over 14 years of professional experience in the management and operation of high profile UK marinas. Before joining Marina Projects, he held marina management positions involving all aspects of running a marina business from personnel matters through to customer service, the development and management of operational policies, full financial responsibility, business planning and business development.
He holds extensive operational and management qualifications including the internationally recognised CMM accreditation; boatyard operation; Health and Safety and RYA sailing certification. These qualifications ensure that Dan has a full and comprehensive understanding of all aspects of marina operations.
Dan sits on the BMF South Executive committee, contributing to the development of the marine industry throughout the UK. Through membership of Association of Marina Industries, he is also kept up to date with industry trends.
Dan's role at Marina Projects sees him working on a range of consultancy projects within the UK, with a focus on operational matters, business analysis and review, market research and financial viability.
Robert Horsford FCCA, Finance Director
Robert qualified as an accountant whilst working in the property industry at Savills PLC, the international property consultants. Robert was eight years with Savills and was Director responsible for client accounting.
Robert subsequently broadened his commercial property experience with four years spent as finance director at MDL Management PLC, the marina and property investment business based on the South coast of England. During his tenure at MDL Robert gained extensive experience of the strategic, operational and development issues associated with marina business investments and how best to drive shareholder value from the asset class.
Robert moved from MDL to join the Marina Projects team as finance director with a desire to deploy his specialist experience across a broader range of business. Naturally Robert’s focus within Marina Projects covers all aspects of the finance discipline and typically involves financial appraisal of development opportunities, raising project finance and the more operational financial monitoring and control of both the development and operating phases. There are very few individuals who have been exposed to the unique blend of the finance discipline and the marina investment marketplace as Robert has and we believe that this makes Robert’s contribution highly valuable to Marina Projects’ clients who are seeking a thorough report and assessment on the financial attractiveness of their business opportunities.
Robert maintains another interest in a software business which provides management and accounting software to the property industry alongside his involvement with Marina Projects.
Mark Bowden CMM, Operations Director
Mark has over 27 years experience working within the marina industry ranging from practical 'hands on' marina management and commercial marine operations, to the planning of new marina developments and acquisitions.
Mark was part of the team that formed Marina Projects in 2002 and was responsible for the development and operations that led to the successful creation of Royal Clarence Marina in 2003 and Endeavour Quay in 2006. Both these projects are in Gosport, UK. More recently he has headed up the management team at Whitehaven Marina since Marina Projects took control of the marina.
As part of his role with Marina Projects, Mark contributes fully on all operational related matters including business planning, market assessments, servicing requirements, standards and customer relations. He is responsible for the operational activities within Marina Projects, but also spends time translating these skills into a number of projects that Marina Projects are working on.
Mark is an experienced yachtsman with an in depth knowledge of the marine leisure industry and fully understands a marina customer's expectations. This is recognised by the whole Marina Projects team and the design solutions and services offered by Marina Projects are based upon the latest international criteria that reflect the highest standards in the marine industry.

Thumbnail images for ‘parent’ section pages
The section pages for Services and Projects make use of thumbnail images as visual headers to each of the pages within them. A reference to the location of these images is stored in the Thumbnail image field visible when in Publish or Edit mode.
The importance of good file naming
To keep things tidy and easily identified (both in the CMS Control Panel and on the web server), please use filenames that are all lower-case, include major relevant words separated by a hyphen (-) and end with:
-thumb.xxx
Where .xxx is the image filetype ending: .jpg, .gif or .png (normally you will use .jpg)
The Upload File service can do the heavylifting for you
Using the Upload File service when creating or editing a service or project page, you can resize the image and/or populate the Thumbnail image field with the corresponding image location reference…
Upload the image
Click Upload File, then click the Browse button in the pop-up window to select the required source image file, then click the Upload button…

If the same filename already exists
If there is already an image file with exactly the same name, you are given the option to rename the one you are uploading or overwrite the existing file…

Resize the image if you want to
Once the image is uploaded, you then have the option to resize it…

You can specify a size to resize your source image to and you have the option to create a separate copy or to use the filename you have already chosen. If you choose to create a copy, -thumb.jpg will be appended to the name you have chosen.
Important: no option to crop the image is provided, so you must be happy with the image crop before you use the Upload File. For image editing, including cropping, we recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements, desktop software available for £65, or Adobe's free online service, Photoshop Express. Note also that if you do not constrain proportions, the image will be distorted accordingly…

Populate the Thumbnail image field with the relevant location reference
After you have resized the uploaded image or decided not to, you must choose the placement options for the reference to the location of the new image as highlighted in pink below…

Then you're done, the image will be called into the correctplace on the page automatically.
